FAQ
Answers for players, private hosts, venues, billing questions, coupons, and account privacy.
How do players join a game?
Players can join with a session code, a direct join link, a venue public page, or a QR code shown on the venue page or Bar Display. Once they enter a player name, they wait in the lobby until the host starts the game.
Do players need an account?
Players can join a game without an account, but an account helps them keep their screen name, save trophies, and keep awarded prize coupons in their dashboard Inbox.
What plans are available?
No Cover Charge is the free tier for short private games. Pro is for ad-free private hosting with more rounds, one custom prompt locker, community locker access, and a resettable win leaderboard. Happy Hour is for venues that need branding, public venue pages, QR join flow, prize tools, coupon management, timers, and up to 2 live games. Power Pub is for larger venues that need up to 5 live games, the premium live venue feed, unlimited lockers and prize options, official vault controls, coupon analytics, and customer inbox promotions.
For the purchase-focused breakdown, see Plans & Pricing.
Where do hosts learn how their account works?
The dashboard Reference section includes Host Documentation for the signed-in account's current tier. It explains only the tools that account can use, including session controls, prompt vaults, lockers, venue tools, coupons, and Power Pub features when available.
How do subscriptions and billing work?
Paid plans use Stripe Checkout during signup or upgrade. Active Stripe subscriptions are managed through Stripe's billing portal from the Profile page, including plan management, renewals, payment updates, and cancellations. Taxes, when applicable, are handled during Stripe checkout.
Can I use a waiver or trial code?
Yes, if you have a valid waiver code. A waiver can activate a trial or comped paid-plan access without Stripe checkout. Waivers may be limited to a specific plan, billing cycle, number of uses, or expiration date.
What happens if a subscription or trial ends?
If paid access is no longer active, the account returns to Free access until billing or a valid waiver is activated again. Trial accounts may receive account notices before or after the trial ends.
What are prompt vaults and lockers?
The main DoWitz prompt vault is the default prompt pool. Custom lockers are prompt collections a host creates for their own games. Community lockers are shared prompt collections that eligible paid hosts can subscribe to and activate. Power Pub venues can also opt eligible official DoWitz vaults in or out to shape the prompt tone for a room.
What is a Venue Home page?
Venue Home is a public page for venue accounts. It can show venue branding, a custom public URL, QR join access, live session entry points, venue messaging, and prize information. Venue branding and URL settings are managed from Profile, while game display behavior is controlled from the dashboard.
What is Bar Display?
Bar Display is the TV or projector view for venue rooms. It hides normal website navigation and focuses on branding, QR access, the player roster, and the live game experience. Power Pub unlocks the premium public live venue feed with more real-time game detail.
Can venues run more than one game at once?
Yes, depending on the plan. Free and Pro are private-host plans with one live game. Happy Hour can run up to 2 simultaneous live games, and Power Pub can run up to 5. Venues can use separate sessions for different rooms, tables, hosts, or events.
How do prizes and coupons work?
Venue plans can create prize options and choose whether a game has no prize, a fixed prize, or a random prize from active options. When a prize is awarded, winners can receive coupon details in their DoWitz Inbox. Venues can set expiration timing and optional valid weekday restrictions.
Who is responsible for honoring coupons?
The venue is responsible for honoring its own prize offers, coupon rules, redemption terms, stock limits, and restrictions. DoWitz provides delivery, tracking, display, and management tools.
For the legal details, see the Terms of Service.
Can a venue moderate players?
Yes. Venue tools can include profanity filtering, custom blocked words, temporary player blocks, and permanent blocks. These tools help keep public games appropriate for the room.
Can players suggest prompts?
Yes. Venue players can submit prompt ideas to the venue's Suggestion Inbox. The venue can review ideas before adding them to its prompt library.
Do you sell user data?
